The place I had been taking leather working classes closed its doors suddenly due to a lack of funding, so I messaged the teacher of the class to offer my services as an unpaid intern or apprentice — and to express interest in taking classes if she found another place to offer them. She wrote back to say that she would love to have me help, and that she’d pay me (!!!), which is honestly the least of my worries right now because I am quite inexperienced but eager to learn. Meanwhile, I am already flash-forwarding in my brain to a day when I can quit this job and spend the majority of my time in a workshop in our home (or a shared studio with other artists) and make and sell bags all the livelong day.
IS THIS REAL LIFE?
